Jan Taminiau dresses debutante Lan Vy Tran for Le Bal 2012

Once upon a time, young ladies from aristocratic families of the U.K. would wait eagerly for their eighteenth birthday. It was then that they would be presented to H.M. the Queen. Next, the season’s balls would begin. These young ladies were referred to as “débutantes”. This British tradition would go on to influence balls all across Europe. Lan Vy Tran is the first Vietnamese to be part of the Debutante Ball since it began. For the occasion, she meets up with designer Jan Taminiau who will dress her for the Ball. In France, in 1957, the Couture House Jean Patou revived the tradition. It became an annual event, held on alternate years at the Opera in Paris and in Versailles.

Le Bal is the unforgettable moment of a debutante and her Couture.

On October 24th the Ferilli Family organized an Italian dinner to celebrate the second anniversary of men's store '1' and the opening of women's store '2'. They also let their guest have a sneak-peak at '3'.    
 

Two years ago 1 opened its doors at the Cornelis Schuytstraat, the lively heart of Amsterdam Zuid. 1 is known for its eclectic mix of mostly one-of-a-kind pieces for men, with many brands that are sold exclusively for the Netherlands. After the success of 1, the logical sequel of 2 followed in spring 2012. Also, 2 offers the less-than-usual range of brands for women. After 1 and 2, the opening of the third store 3 is scheduled end of January 2013. Compared to the other stores, 3 is not a multi-brand, but a high-end Italian mono-brand store; Mauro Grifoni. 3 will offer menswear, womenswear and kidswear. Initiators of this numbered concept are Aebe and Carlo Ferilli.

BVLGARI AND ISABELLA ROSSELLINI 

 

Precious materials and fine craftsmanship play key roles in the new "Isabella Rossellini" bags, the real stars of the coming season. The centrepiece of the collection is the 'fan bag'. A fan motif, inspired by an haute joaillerie earring, is transformed into an embroidery of red coral beads and sequins that undulate over the natural canvas body of the bag, lending it an Oriental allure. Class is the key word for the offerings in glossy crocodile, featuring contrasting enamels and stones in unusual colour combinations, like saffron and amethyst, or opal blue and aurora pink. 

 

THE NEW ACCESSORIES COLLECTION SPRING - SUMMER 2013

 

Harmony and contemporary flair characterise next season's entire accessories collection: the summer promises blocks of colour and sophisticated experimentation that incorporate Oriental influences with whimsy and fantasy. Resulting in a seductive amalgam of intense chromatic nuances. 

The collection unfolds in a palette of bright hues, saturated with personality, 

alternating with subtler, more natural tones. Coral, amethyst, aurora pink, mulberry, saffron, almond, powder pink, mint, cobalt blue, dahlia blue and opal blue. As for the materials, exotic leathers like lizard, python and crocodile are once again featured, in a range of multicoloured finishes. This season also marks the return of boarded calfskin in the summery colour hibiscus, while the workmanship offers new three-dimensional effects at once fanciful and elegant.
