Deutsches Design meets Amsterdam

It was the final weekend of August: the days already started to become shorter and a glimpse of the annual attention shifts to stay indoors rather than going outdoors. With this run-up to the cosy, darker days of the year, Loewe opened its newest Gallery in Amsterdam; embellishing the entrance of Amsterdam’s most popular park, the Vondelpark. Spice invited a selection of journalists for a champagne brunch, to get acquainted with the exclusive Loewe Gallery. With its own mini-cinema and the special light effects, the new Gallery especially focuses on experiencing the world of Loewe. The opening speech of Renie Danneels, Managing Director of Loewe Opta Benelux, said it appropriately: ‘This Gallery is a place that completely stands for our brand’

Prelude

Last night, our two Spice girls Rosa and Candy went to the Prelude show in the Le Grand Hotel, here in Amsterdam. It was the seventh edition of the Prelude fashion salon, a night dedicated to the emerging fashion designers, organized by Mercedes-Benz and the Dutch Fashion Foundation. The new Spring/Summer 2010 collections were presented by: Catta Donkersloot, Conny Groenewegen, Mattijs and Sjaak Hullekes with each of their own individual presentations. We saw a classic runway show combined with different tableau vivant and back outside for another show. Although it was raining it was a great and very chic night.

Stranger In Paradiso

Hans Ubbink showed last night in the Paradiso his new SS10 collection with the theme: "Stranger in Paradiso". It was a night where Hans took us to a journey to the desert and back. With thunderstorms and green gras and the perfect outfit for each occasion. As Jim Morrison from the Doors use to say: People are strange, when you are a stranger."

Who Is Who

On Thursday 16th of July, Carlo Wijnands of HTNK organized a 'Ready To Work Clinic' especially for the LICHTING 2009 talents. It was all about how to present themselves as designers and their work to the fashion industry. At the end of the day they actually had the opportunity to present themselves for the first time to a selection of Dutch press! Here some pictures, where you can see how the new talents managed. We are very much looking forward to the show on Thursday July 23rd, Westergasterrein. Sorry but it is on invitation only.

Downtown

On Saturday 18th of July was the official opening of the Fashion Week DOWNTOWN - the "Fashion in the city" event- which was organized at Heineken the City. It was again a superb occasion for artists from different fields, to offer the public their own vision of how a Heineken street wear could look like.
Twenty creatives had the opportunity to show their designs on a long, green catwalk which reached till the outside of the location. The winner of the contest, Marielle van de Gouw, received a check of 1.000 Euro.

BBB

In the first week of July a few of our Spice girls went to see some of our clients in Berlin during Fashion Week, Bread & Butter & Premium. It was a hot, busy, fashionable and exciting weekend in the German capital. Congratulations to Bread & Butter for coming back home and for a great location! Besides our clients we saw a lot of familiar faces and were proud that Amsterdam was so well represented!

White Night

Sensation celebrated this year its 10th edition in the Amsterdam Arena. Dress code, as usual was strictly in white in addition to the overall theme "Wicked Wonderland". It was definitely wicked with very special guests like the Black Eye Peas and great DJ spinning their decks. MAC cosmetics was in charge of the make-up in the backstage to really transport the feeling of the theme "Wicked Wonderland".
