Coco Avant Chanel

On monday evening the 25 of May, the premiere of the long awaited movie: Coco Avant Chanel took place at Amsterdam's Tuschinski theater. All movers and shakers of the Dutch fashion scene came to see the story of Coco Chanel's rise from her obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world. Glamour magazine sponsored the event and "It Girl" Lieke van Lexmond was there to present the movie in a stunning Chanel dress.

Summer Time Is Shopping Time

On Wednesday May 20, was the Filippa K "High Summer Shopping" event in their store at the P.C. Hoftstraat, in Amsterdam. From 5 to 8 p.m one could enjoy the 40% off sale with a glass of Champagne in a nice, intimate shopping atmosphere.

Think Positive

In a new online campaign Replay Shoes points out the importance of a positive state of mind. Leading character is the Replay 'Basque' shoe with an unique Footwear Message Service! The positive way of thinking is transported in sentences like: “I feel to be the lucky one… to disagree is just an opinion” and “This sneaker is stress-free… wear it and you’ll think positive”. These messages are added to the shoes as well, so one doesn't forget them! It's all about a good karma!

Today was the Dr. TaJ press brunch. You may wonder who that is? Dr. TaJ alias Gerard Tjon a Joe is THE cosmetic dentist!!! He invited the dutch press to his house in Blaricum where he has his practice as well. The reason was the launch of his new Dr. TaJ whitening tooth cream, for a perfect Hollywood smile!

Freitag

On May 12, 2009 Freitag invited the Dutch press to visit them in Switzerland. The day started relatively early with a lot to do and see in the HQ, were the two Freitag brothers Markus and Daniel waited already to do a little presentation about the company. As the day went on, the group of journalists visited the flagship store in Zurich and the factory, as well as getting to cut their own Freitag bag!Here is a little collage that my colleague Mijke de Jong did, who joined the press trip.

Plakkies

Two students from the TU Delft wanted to put their energy into something good, something meaningful. So they started together with the Dutch foundation KidsRights a slipper factory in the slums of Africa- in Durban. The slippers are made from old car tires which helps as well the environment over there. 70% of the people who are working in the factory are unemployed and HIV positive. Due to this project they are able to support their families again and to get medical care. Plakkies is the African word for slippers and also the name for the product itself. Plakkies are designed by the shoe designer Jan Jansen and you can get them at the Bijenkorf, America Today, Dr. Adams, Sacha, Open 32, Five Pocket and online . The profit goes KidsRights projects in South-Africa.

Spice PR helped Plakkies with their PR and the organization of the launch event which was yesterday, May 13, 2009 at the Dam square here in Amsterdam. A huge catwalk was build up, surrounded by care tires and models together with Dutch celebrities were showing the different Plakkies. Beertje van Beers was hosting the event. We hope the story continues.

Affordable Luxury

On Wednesday May 6, 2009 the CitizenM officially opened their doors to their second Hotel which is located in the financial district in Amsterdam. It offers "affordable luxury for the people" and CitizenM is focusing with their No. 2 on todays mobile citizens and where they want and need to go. It was a great evening with an insight to all the rooms and a celebration in name of the ambitious workaholics and travelers! If you feel like staying there for a night or two it's totally worth it- 69-149Euro in a stylish, art and designy hotel or just stop by for a drink in the lobby.

Fashion Design Camp

On Tuesday, May 5, 2009 Miram Flores the designer behind the brand MADé, was on TMF-KDN. Together with the Model Kim Veenstra they talked about the upcoming Fashion Design Camp, which both will visit at least for one day to share their knowledge about the wonderful world of fashion.
